Blanche HOSCHEDÉ-MONET (1865-1947) - Lot 12
Blanche HOSCHEDÉ-MONET (1865-1947) "Giverny (?), rosebushes and plumbagos". Oil on canvas, signed lower left. 60 x 73 cm On the back, an old, almost faded label: "B. Hoschedé-Monet. Les plumbagos". Provenance: - Wedding gift to the parents of the current owners on October 6, 1949. Exhibition : - Musée Municipal A.G Poulain, Vernon, April 6 - June 2, 1991, non-catalogued Blanche Hoschedé-Monet, faithful to the Impressionist heritage, devoted a significant part of her work to landscapes. Her attachment to nature and light is evident in each of her compositions, particularly those in which flowers play a central role. The tight framing of this composition, this corner of a garden, gives our painting an intimate character. With her very free brushstrokes, dense materials and a composition that occupies the entire space, the artist, by mastering the interplay of textures and colors, creates a harmonious dialogue between the blue cameos of the plumbagos, the greens of the trees in the background and the brighter shades of the roses in the foreground. Blanche Hoschedé-Monet's characteristically supple brushstrokes are accompanied here by a generous application of matter, bringing relief to this moment in life that we imagine to be a warm summer's day.
