Square red lacquer PLATEAU carved with two dragons facing each other around a stylized "shou" (longevity) character, surmounted by a three-star constellation, among clouds, above foaming waves, and lishui, the border adorned with peony branches on which birds rest on a latticework background. The exterior is adorned with peonies in foliage. On the reverse, the Wanli mark with date of the renchen year (1592).
