Covered ECUELLE and its display stand in fully engraved vermeil with wave decoration, gadroon moldings, foliage and flower clasps. Strasbourg, 1750-1754. Master goldsmith: Jean Frédéric Senckeisen, received in 1744. Ear diameter: 31.5 cm Diameter of display stand : 26 cm Total weight : 1,758 kg Provenance : Former Puiforcat collection, n°198 Exhibition: Probably April 12-May 13, 1926, Paris, Musée des Arts décoratifs,Orfèvrerie Française Civile du XVIIe siècle au début du XIXe siècle, n°630. Bowl no. 630 in the Musée des Arts décoratifs exhibition is given to the silversmith J. Stalh. The state of knowledge described as "imperfect" in the preface to the exhibition catalog, the absence of any Strasbourg vermeil-covered bowl in the 1955 sale and in the Niarchos donation, and the similarity of the initials, enable us to link this bowl to the one described under no. 630 in the exhibition.
