JAPAN - Meiji period (1868-1912) Rectangular black lacquer Suzuribako decorated with butterflies in tall grass in gold lacquer hira maki-e. The interior has three superimposed compartments, the upper one containing inkstone and celadon porcelain mizuhire. (Chips, cracks, minor knocks). Dimensions: 17.7 x 9.7 x 7 cm A small lacquered wood incense box (kogo) decorated in taka maki-e with gold lacquer and aogai and lead inlays of spider web and leaves. (Misses). Length : 7 cm
