JAPAN, Arita kilns - Meiji period (1868-1912) Large polylobed porcelain bowl with polychrome and gold enameled bands of alternating brocade motifs and a medallion at the bottom featuring a phoenix chasing the sacred pearl. The outer wall is decorated with medallions and dragons on a background of stylized waves. On the reverse, the Fukagawa Sei mark. Diameter: 24.8 cm
