Hiroshige Ando (1797-1858) Frontispiece page from the Fuji Sanjûrokkei series, The Thirty-Six Views of Fuji. This sheet includes the title of the series, the list of prints and the preface. On the cartouche-fan is written: Meisho Sanjûrokkei with Mount Fuji represented. On the two cartouches in the center of the page is the list of prints with the artist's signature: Shodai Rissai Hiroshige o iga. On the lower cartouche is the preface signed by Santei Shumba: "One day, in the early autumn of 1858, Hiroshige came to his publisher with this series, saying it was his last work. And in late autumn of that year, Hiroshige died". ate: 1859, Year of the Sheep, although all the prints on this list are dated 1858. Signed Ryusai Hiroshige. Publisher's seal Tsutaya (Kôeido).
