His stepfather, an amateur photographer, introduced him to photography. Photography quickly became more than a hobby for him and turned into a consuming passion. A self-taught photographer, Franck started out as a ski photographer before moving to Paris to work for a publishing house and produce a series of books on different sports. Franck spent the next 17 years working for three news agencies, starting out covering sports before moving on to news, politics and social issues. He is now editor in chief of the photographic production department of L'Équipe.
