Fernand LÉGER (1881-1955) The yellow vase in the landscape, 1948 Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right 48, resigned, redated and titled on the back. 46 x 38 cm Provenance: - Purchased directly from Fernand Léger's studio by Lise Beaudin-Daniel, daughter of André Beaudin and Suzanne Roger. - Beaussant Lefèvre sale, Paris, December 18, 2015, n°63. - Acquired at the above-mentioned sale by the current owner Like all painters, Léger regularly worked in series around a single theme. He could start with a small format that he would later enlarge. There is another version from 1949, which has some variations and measures 92 x 65 cm André Beaudin, a painter of the École de Paris, married Suzanne Roger in 1919. She was a student of Fernand Léger and kept his technique of flat tints. Friends of Max Jacob, André Beaudin and Suzanne Roger also frequented the circle of intellectuals close to the Kahnweilers with Juan Gris, the Massons, the Leiris... Suzanne Roger, André Beaudin and Fernand Léger all exhibited at the Louise Leiris Simon gallery."
