Souvenirs of the painter Nicolas Alexandre Barbier: a knight's star of the Legion of Honor of the July Monarchy model in silver, gold and enamel, boar's head hallmark (tiny chips, without ribbon), 66,5 x 45 mm, with the announcement letter dated January 6, 1843 signed Maréchal comte Gérard (folds); a medal of St. Helena, in patinated bronze, 50 x 21 mm, short ribbon, with the patent numbered 9.145 signed Duc de Plaisance (claw) and the shipping envelope. Nicolas Alexandre Barbier (1789-1864), military subintendent wounded at the Berezina, after the Saxony and Waterloo campaigns, he studied painting under the direction of Xavier Leprince, he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon. He was the painting teacher of the children of Louis-Philipe, who awarded him the Legion of Honor in 1842. See file LH//110/39.
