LARGE gilt bronze HANGER, decorated with a nymph lying on a lion's body on a rock. Enamel dial with dates in a tambourine signed "Bouchet Hger du Roy". White marble base with toupie feet. Wire suspension. End of the 18th century. Height : 40 cm - Width : 62 cm. Depth : 29 cm (cracks and repairs to the dial) Probably Jean Louis Bouchet, received master in 1762, clockmaker of the king for the castle of Bellevue. The British Crown collections hold a similar clock. An identical clock, in white marble, attributed to Clodion, was on the mantelpiece of the salon des dames at the château de Saint Cloud.
