Norway - Patinated bronze war cross with ribbon. 60 x 43.5 mm Norway, 1946. Instituted by King Haakon VII in exile in London on 21 May 1941. It is the highest Norwegian award for bravery. It was awarded to only 273 soldiers or units among which 66 French, including 7 military units (the flags of the Alpine hunters and that of the 13th half-brigade of Foreign Legion were decorated as well as the flags of the 1st and 2nd battalions of the 13th half-brigade of Foreign Legion and the flags of the 6th, 12th and 14th battalions of Alpine hunters).
