Oval miniature on ivory under glass depicting a young man facing right wearing a blue frock coat over a waistcoat trimmed with green braid and white tie, the cloudy blue background in an oval frame forming a pendant in yellow gold 585 thousandths the background lined with hair curls bearing a handwritten label with several numbers and the name "Englehart ...hez". Could be the work of George Engleheart (1752-1829) Early 19th century. (Small white traces on the neck and chin, accidents to the glass on the back). Height of the frame (with bélière): 105 mm Width of the frame: 77 mm Gross weight: 78.3 g George Engleheart (1752-1829): English miniaturist rival of Richard Cosway. Pupil of G. Barret and Sir Joshua Reynolds. He exhibited at the Royal Gallery in London in 1773 and remained active until 1813.
