Colonial campaigns and the First World War, archives of a father and son : - Louis Eugène Hippolyte Belin (1856-1914), colonel: Diploma of the Tonkin Medal, Ministry of the Navy and Colonies, as Captain of Marine Infantry, dated Paris December 22, 1885; Diploma of the Madagascar Medal, Ministry of the Navy, as Lieutenant-Colonel in the Malagasy Rifle Regiment, dated Cherbourg July 18, 1896; letter from the Ministry of the Navy, dated September 24, 1894, announcing his appointment as chevalier de la Légion d'honneur; letter from the Ministry of the Navy, dated January 9, 1914, concerning his reception in the rank of officer of the Légion d'honneur; his record of service and campaigns; two letters concerning his retirement and the granting of a pension. - Henri Eugène Bernard Joseph Belin (1893-1918), captain, died for France: one commendation in the order of the 45th infantry regiment, dated December 26, 1916; three commendations in the order of the army, one dated July 20, 1918, one dated September 10, 1918, one dated May 17, 1919 "fallen on the field of honor on October 24, 1918"; ministerial decree appointing him knight of the Legion of Honor posthumously, with copy of his commendation, dated October 6, 1919. Good condition.
