Mission Saharienne - Colonial medal of the 1st type in silver, hallmarked 'corne ARGENT' on the edge and Camille Roux on the hoop, ribbon with three clasps. - A gold clasp of the special model in the form of a cartouche with a rocaille frame surmounted by a radiant sun, the center with a gray background adorned with the legend "MISSION SAHARIENNE", clamp fastening, Monnaie de Paris hallmark 'corne OR corne'. - A silver clip with striated edge ".TCHAD.", collet lock, hallmark of the Arthus-Bertrand firm and boar's head. - A gold clasp of the special model in the form of a scalloped cartouche surmounted by palms, in the center, on a smooth background "CENTRE AFRICAIN", fastened by a rounded silver clapper, the plate stamped with the hallmark of the Monnaie de Paris 'corne OR corne', the clapper 'corne ARGENT corne'. Medal diameter: 29.9 mm Gross weight: 39.5 g France, early 20th century. TTB to SUP The "Mission Saharienne" clasp was created on February 22, 1901, to distinguish the officers of the Foureau-Lamy Mission who crossed the Sahara from north to south as far as Lake Chad, and joined two other expeditions from the south and west. The "Centre-Africain" clasp was created on May 28, 1902 for the officers and soldiers of these two missions. It was also awarded to the officers of the Foureau-Lamy mission.
