MODERN SCHOOL Untitled, 1951 Gouache, signed indistinctly and dated II. 1951 and dedicated to Michelle Esday* lower right. The sheet 33.5 x 26.5 cm Michelle Esday belonged to the Parisian literary milieu of the post-war years. A regular contributor to magazines such as Osmose and La Revue palladienne, she published several novels in the early 1950s, including Délivrez-nous du bien and La peur du soleil, and was part of a milieu that brought together writers, critics and artists. Provenance: Jean-Yves Mock (1928-2021). Jean-Yves Mock was an art critic, curator, author and collector who worked at London's Hanover Gallery from 1956 to 1973, before becoming curator at Beaubourg.
