Height without base: 34 cm Trained by Rodin, Malvina Cornell Hoffman created a bust of Pierre Lecomte du Nouÿ (1883-1947), French biologist and philosopher, son of Hermine Oudinot (see no. 11). The precise modeling and concentrated gaze convey the rigor and restraint of a man of thought, captured with a sobriety of great accuracy.
