Cuno AMIET (1868-1961) Portrait of Harald Probst as a child, 1939 Oil on canvas, signed and dated 39 lower right. 100 x 65 cm Provenance : - Commissioned by Mr. Probst, Harald's father, from the artist - By descent to current owner On this subject, we have a letter which states: "My husband Harald Probst and his sister Helga were painted by Cuno Amiet after their parents divorced. The pictures were painted either in their father's garden in Lagnau, or in the painter's garden, which was not far away. Harald and Helga often spoke of the discomfort of standing still for so long. And my husband Harald always complained that the painter had forgotten the pantograph on the carriage. After their father's death, the paintings became the property of his children, Harald and Helga Probst."
