A pair of inlaid polychrome hardstone plaques on parangon, depicting parrots. Molded gilt bronze frames. Italy, Opificio delle pietre dure, 17th century. Height: 24 cm - Width: 21 cm The Musée du Louvre owns a pair of cabinets made by Joseph Baumhauer around 1770, using old hardstone panels decorated with similar birds (OA 5448-49). They were completed by a third cabinet made by Jacob-Desmalter around 1813 (OA 5450°), again with the same hardstone birds.
