Oblong-shaped mask with grooved headdress. The straight nose and eyes are represented by shells (one missing). Two holes are drilled in the cheeks to aid the dancer's vision. Original braided fiber ornament. Wood with old black patina. Baga people, Guinea Conakry. Height of mask alone: 36.5 cm Provenance: Jean Pissarro estate, collected in situ between 1942 and 1945.
