JAPAN - Mid-Edo period (1603-1868) Incense chest (sagedansu) in nashiji lacquer decorated in hira maki-e gold lacquer and heidatsu with fans, opening through a fan decorated on the reverse with a seated kirin, onto three superimposed drawers decorated with kiku floating on a stream. (Missing heidatsu, small chips and knocks). Dimensions: 13 x 7.6 x 8.9 cm A small kinji lacquer box with lead and aogai inlay decoration and gold lacquer taka maki-e of three fans. Interior in nashiji (Wear). Dimensions: 7.3 x 5.5 x 1.5 cm
