CLAVECIN with one keyboard and door, in red and black lacquered wood decorated with gilded fillets. Curved stretcher, flat tip, cut-out belt, six curved legs. Soundboard painted with flowers, gilded rosette featuring a female musician with the maker's initials. Fifty-eight keys with pointed arches. Lateral tuning key drawer.
Signed: "Mercier - Ythier fait à Paris 1982".

Claude Mercier-Ythier (1931-2020), based on rue de Verneuil in Paris, was for many years one of the only makers and restorers of early harpsichords. In 1996, he authored a reference work on harpsichords.
