Ochre-colored, tortoiseshell-lined composition cruet. The lid applied with a miniature depicting Henri Jacques Goûin-Moisant, signed lower right Sicardi and dated 1786, the setting in yellow gold. It contains a handwritten paper stating "Monsieur Goui Moisant âgé de 28 ans" - "collection Doct Jean...".

Henri Jacques Goüin, a Touraine businessman, became mayor of Tours in 1794, and president of the Commercial Court and Chamber of Commerce. He encouraged commerce and the embellishment of the city of Tours through the construction of private mansions. He died in Tours on April 5, 1823.
Louis Marie Sicard dit Sicardi (1743-1825) graduated from the Bordeaux Academy in 1771, and came to Paris in 1774, where he enjoyed great success at court, painting portraits of King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. He exhibited at the salons from 1791 until the early 19th century.
