In the foreground, three women, wearing taka geta to protect themselves from the snow, pass each other on a bridge. Behind them, in front of the bay, figures stroll along the seawall, watching the sunrise on the horizon.

Tsukiji Nishi Gomonzeki
The Western Gomonzeki Temple in Tsukuji
Visitors make their way to the shrine along the central aisle lined with cherry blossoms. In the foreground on the right, three women pass a mother preceded by her young daughters on the left. The entrance to the shrine can be seen in the background.

Shiba Zôjôji/ Zôjôji Temple in Shiba
n the temple grounds, three women stand in the foreground under the inner portico. In the background, two young girls, probably maids of honor of a lordly hotel, the design of their garments signifying yagasuri, which characterizes this function. In the background, we can see the entrance portico and visitors advancing onto the large esplanade. Zôjôji temple was the official temple of the Shogun family. To this day, its gates are Tokyo's oldest monuments, classified as "state treasures".
