Ryôgoku bashi yûsuzumi/ Cool off near the Ryôgoku bridge
In the foreground, a woman standing in a boat gazes out at two bathers; beside her, two friends are playing ken. To the left, a boat's lanterns bear the inscription Utagawa maru, boat of the Utagawa family (another name for Hiroshige). In the background, a multitude of boats are anchored near the Ryôgoku bridge, where strollers can be seen.

n the wide street bordered by the lordly mansions of the Asano and Kuroda clans, three women, parasols in hand, and a samurai followed by a servant pass each other; in the middle background, a warrior escorted by a halberdier. Beyond the street you can see the city of Edo and, in the distance, Shinagawa Bay.
