n the wide street bordered by the lordly mansions of the Asano and Kuroda clans, three women, parasols in hand, and a samurai followed by a servant pass each other; in the middle background, a warrior escorted by a halberdier. Beyond the street you can see the city of Edo and, in the distance, Shinagawa Bay.

At nightfall, on the bank where an open-air teahouse is located, three men with their heads covered are chatting with two women. The women, carrying lanterns, are about to lead them into the reserved area. In the background on the right, the Mikaeri willow tree and the city of Edo beyond the river.
