Born in Greece, he is very early passionate about photography. During his first trip to Southern Africa, he fell in love with the wilderness, the lights and the animals. Since then, he has never ceased to travel to the most remote corners of the planet, from the African plains to the polar lands. All of his work is meticulously prepared beforehand like a storyboard, and each of his photographs is a painting that plays on light and shadow. He readily admits that he was inspired by Edgar Reitz's film Heimat, in which every shot was composed like a photograph. Very influenced by painting, especially by the textured blacks of Pierre Soulages, Kyriakos Kaziras has a very pictorial approach to photography. The cameras are his brushes.
