Stinstra, no. 76 as H. Holbein. - In the 19th century, private collection in northern France. Translation of the label pasted on the back of the portrait: HOLBEIN (H.) 76. A young man wearing traditional Dutch clothing, a large hat and a fur-lined coat of exact dimensions (sic) and a noble painter. The Stinstra family had various collectors among its members. Despite the initials S. J. in the catalog of the sale of 22 May 1822, it could be the sale of the collection of Gooijten Simons Stinstra, born in 1763 and died in 1821. It should be noted that in the same sale of 22 May 1822 in Amsterdam, the famous painting by Vermeer, The View of Delft (see reproductions in the catalog), which was not part of the Stinstra collection, appeared under number 112. 40.5 x 30.2 cm On the reverse side, a sales label.
