Linzeler Marchak, "Chinoiserie Art Deco Mignonette clock in silver, onyx, ornamental stones with polychrome side panels in red and black lacquer in the Chinoiserie style. The base with two black runners, the central body decorated with the Chinese imperial red color, inscriptions in Roman numerals for the indication of the hours, two rosettes in the taste of the chinoiseries on the side walls, the upper part in black onyx. The dial is decorated with mother-of-pearl plates in the chinoiserie style featuring a dragon in the center with mother-of-pearl plates around the edge, twisted hands. Swiss-made mechanical movement with manual winding, 15 jewels, 5 adjustments, No. 55631 and bearing the mark "JTC". Case signed "Linzeler Marchak" inside the back panel that opens to the movement, also numbered "8827" on the silver mesh. The Chinoiseries are seen as an interpretation in Europe of the taste for Asian art. This is also explained in our example by the application of the color red and the mother-of-pearl figure of the dragon which is synonymous with power in China, not to mention the absolute symbol of the Chinese Emperors. If the word "Chinoiserie" entered the Larousse dictionary in 1845, we can attribute its first use to Charles Fourier in 1823. Honoré de Balzac uses it again in 1836 in his book Interdiction: "forge the aesthetics of the chimerical, the fantastic, the exotic, the revival of a baroque or rococo style that accompany Romanticism. Linzeler Marchak, during the period of Art Deco years, has some rare achievements in the inspiration of "Chinoiserie", such as this clock which is decorated with its mother-of-pearl plates, which are characteristic of the work of master Vladimir Vlakosky. This clock "Chinoiserie Art Déco" signed Linzeler Marchak belongs to a short and precious period between 1925 and 1927, years of great jewelery creations.
