In an article Comment regarder un tableau de Miro, published in Le Figaro on March 5, 2011, Véronique Prat gives an excellent approach to Miro's painting and, even if she speaks of an oil painting, this text applies perfectly to our work: "The line, as fine as a thread, invades the surface, passes, passes again and again and crosses itself, uninterrupted, giving a musical rhythm to the whole. The ease that emerges from these paintings is only apparent, as Miró confided: "It was a long and extremely arduous work. Some forms called for others to counterbalance them. These, in turn, called for new ones. It seemed endless. Day after day, I added dots, stars, spots of color to finally arrive at a harmonious and complex balance. Through this relationship to space, Miró questions the human condition, which, as Pascal wrote, "is held between the two infinities that enclose and flee from it."
"How long did it take you to do this painting?" a visitor once asked Miró, implying that a child could have done the same thing. "More than forty years and about ten minutes," replied the painter.
