Pair of chairs in molded beech wood with white varnish. Square flat backs with flowered spandrels. From rounded legs decorated with a drape. Front legs tapered fluted, rear legs saber. Trace of stamp (probably Jacob). Iron mark of the National Assembly, iron mark of the Tuileries, label of the Château des Tuileries, dated 1829. Trimmed with red leather (damaged). End of the 18th century. Height : 88 cm - Width : 49 cm Depth : 50 cm The different marks affixed on these seats reflect their tribulation in a turbulent period. Probably made under Louis XVI, they were given to the National Constituent Assembly in 1789, then sent to the Tuileries under the Restoration where they were inventoried, they are still there under Charles X where they are subject to a new inventory.
